TPS74801: TPS74801 usage

Part Number: TPS74801

Hello support team,

I would like to know what voltage need to feed the BIAS terminal to be get good performance.

The requirement is:

VIN=3.3V, VOUT=2.5V, IOUT=1.5A

In case of VBIAS=5V, VBIAS-VOUT=2.5V then difference is more than 1.6V.

Also in case of VBIAS= 3.3V, VBIAS-VOUT=0.8V then difference is small.

Which one is expected operation. If needed I can feed 5V to the BIAS terminal.

Your answer would be very appreciated.

Best regards,

Izumi Maruyama

  • Hi Izumi,

    In order to achieve a regulated output voltage, both the Vin dropout and Vbias dropout requirements must be met.

    We recommend that customers design to the maximum specifications; therefore, in order to achieve regulation with an output voltage of 2.5 V, we recommend that Vbias be at least 4.1 V (Vout + Vdo_bias = 2.5 V + 1.6 V = 4.1 V).

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
