TPSM84424: DC/DCpower modules for Xilinx FPGA

Part Number: TPSM84424
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMZM33603, TPS82130,

Hi team,

Please advise a recommended DC/DC modules for Xilinx FPGA Transceivers (Analog Kintex US GTH) with the following spec:

1.0V, at least 3A maximum Vo ripple 10mV

1.2V, at least 1.33A maximum Vo ripple 10mV

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Shai,

There are several devices that could work for your application: TPSM84424, LMZM33603 / 02, TPS82130, ...

What is the input voltage they will be powered from? Are there any other key specs they need? (small size, synchronization, transient requirements, ...)?

    Thanks, Jason

  • Jason,

Thier Vin is 12v and they looking for small size solution.
Thier main concern is Vout ripple must be lower than 10mV.
Which device you recommend for best ripple performence.
Secondly, According the tpsm84428 datasheet the typical ripple is round 16mV, however using the webench I get simulated rippler smaller than 6.675mV I'm confused – should I take the datasheet figure or trust the webench simulation?

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Shai
  • Hi Shai,

For consistant ripple over the entire load range, the TPSM84424 should work for you application. I would use Weebnch to determine the ripple as you can adjust parameters, versus a fixed data point in the datasheet. Increasing the switching frequency and adding additional ceramic output capacitors will reduce the output voltage ripple even further.

    Thansk, Jason
