BQ24780S: Short SDA & SCL to GND for 5 seconds

Hi,

Customer has a scenario which needs to short SDA/SCL to GND for 5 seconds. Will it damage the chip? What could be the potential risk?

Hi Antony,

Shorting SDA and SCL to GND will stop SMBus communication, but it should not damage the IC in any way.
Out of curiosity, why does your customer need to short these pins to GND?
