BQ34Z100-G1: Unaccuracy in AveragePower register

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

I generated a golden image of my battery but the average power is not right, if I import the log files in Exel and multiply voltage * current the result is not the same as AveragePower column

  • Hi Christopher,

No, average power for the gauge is not average current x voltage in log. That is because what is reported in the average power column is the combination of impedance track simulation power that is taken from the current reported in that step. Secondly, both current and voltage are not measured in the same instant of time (the device does not have 2 adc's for that). So, there will be a discrepancy in the reported value.
  • Hi, Thank's for the quick answer

The impedance Track simulation should be pretty close to the reality am I wrong ?

and even if the voltage and current are not sampled a the exact same time the sample rate should be high enough to have a great idea of the AveragePower right ?

Finally, it's a coincidence that with an other config, the AveragePower = Voltage*Current ?

  • Are you using instantaneous voltage and current to calculate power here? If that's so, then you can get the values reported as shown.
