BQ34Z100-G1: True RC is negative ?

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM, GPCRB

abnormal_capacity1.rar

I program a learned image to a new chip ,Calibrate the voltages and currents  ,send IT ENABLE  and  performce tests of charging and discharging .after a cycle I chager the battery to full , then after serveral hours I find remainingCapacity is reduce to 1/4 and True RC is negative ? I want to kown what make is happen and how to solve ?

  • Thanks for the zip file. However, I need the chg log to see what is happening. There is no log there. Please upload it and I can analyze this for you.
  • Since the capacity display is normal during discharge and no charging data is recorded, there are only a few data at the time of discharge.Data is in Discharge.rar. In this case, is there any way to get the capacity back to normal?

Also, I want to ask about OCV issues.

1:I find OCV reading is taken when current > DF.Quit Current(40mA) during charge , Is it normal? Data is in Charge.rar.

2:if  no OCV reading is taken during relaxation state  , Whether DOD0 always uses the original value and will not update ?

For example, there is an initial DOD0, which is not updated after the discharge, and is not updated after the charging. At this case, is there an abnormality in calculating the capacity using the initial DOD0 value?discharge.rarCharge.rar

3:when I program a learned image to a new chip and send IT ENABLE , What is the initial value of DOD0?

  • You can reset the gauge and then run a chg, relax, dsg, relax cycle again. That would help you get capacity back to normal.

    1. OCV reading cannot be taken above quit current. You need to fulfil a dV/dt condition which will vary during charge.

    2. DOD should typically be taken during relaxation. If not, if 48 hours elapses after last DOD, it will be taken again.

    3. When you send IT_ENABLE, DOD will be computed based on the voltage, temperature and chem ID programmed on the gauge.

  • If bq34z100-g1 supports two exponent Rbs ?What do T Rise and T Time Constant  mean ? I need discharge at low temperature.

  • Both of them are parameters that govern the self heating of the cell when a dsg starts.

If you need to dsg at low temp, please characterize your cells using GPCCHEM, and GPCRB.
