Do you recommend using the UCC2897A to control the flyback stage of a solar micro-inveter?

Hi Ziad,
The UCC2897a is an active clamp forward controller and may be used in a flyback design but we do not have many examples in the flyback circuit.
Can you tell the specifications of the power supply you need to design and I can suggest a reference design for you?
Thanks
Peter
Hello Ziad,
The UCC2897A is almost always used as a forward converter in thee power range of about 100W to 200W in medim voltage DCDC converters
You should consider using some other pwm controller based on your design requirements of input voltage and output power.

John
Hi Peter,
The DC input range is 16-60 V and the flyback output is around 200 V DC.

Ziad
Hi John,
The DC input is 16-60 V and the output DC is around 200 V with target output power of 250 Watt.

Ziad
Hi Ziad,
At 250W a flyback is not an option, the rms currents in a flyback toplogy limit its usefulness to below 150W, if you go to the UCC2897a webpage you will find a variety of the UCC2897a designs which may be a useful starting point for your design.

Hi Peter,
I forgot to mention that I will be using an interleaved Flyback design with each transformer at 125-150W.

Ziad
HI Ziad,
The UCC28220 is interleaved controller that you could use for an interleaved flyback but I we do not have any reference designs available.
Is there a TI part that you are thinking of using?

Peter
Hi Peter,
I like your suggestion. What if I still want to incorporate an active-clamp design with the UCC2820? What do you recommend I need additional?
Regards,
Ziad
Hi Ziad,
We do not have any spice models for the UCC28220, you could also look at the LM5034 as another option for an active clamp design however I dont think we have any collateral on using this in a flyback circuit.

Peter
Hi Ziad,
Since that has been no progress on this post for a number of days I am going to close it. If you have more questions please open a new post.
