Hi Support team
i would like to learn more about the protection of UCC28180, I would like to know if pull Vsense on the application (will the duty increase before protection?) or Icomp will be better. ? In addition, in standby mode, does the IC have other functions besides PWM?
Hello Red,
TI recommends pulling VSENSE below the open loop protection level to shutdown the UCC28180.
This puts the controller into a low power standby mode and also discharges the VCOMP capacitor.
When the controller is re-enabled the enhanced dynamic response feature will give a controlled startup of the pfc.
You can also disable the controller by pulling ICOMP below 0.2V.
However you will get a more controlled startup with the VSENSE method.
Standby mode only disables the pwm. The internal coircuitry is still active but there is no output signal
Regards
