LP87524J-Q1: programming, and clock synchronization questions

Part Number: LP87524J-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642

Team, can you please help answer customer's questions:

1. For LP87524J PMIC register configuration, do we need a programming kit or is this done via the AWR1642?

2. I believe that LP87524J PMIC has an internal clock (please confirm).

3. PMIC Datasheet says that it supports switching clock synchronization to an external clock.  For instance, in my schematic PMIC clock is tied to AWR1642. Does this imply PMIC will be driven by AWR1642’s clock? If so, how does PMIC turn ON if it depends on AWR1642 to turn it ON while the AWR1642 is still OFF during initialization?

Thanks!

Viktorija

  • Hello Viktorija,

1.) The LP87524 PMIC comes with a default set of register configurations. If the I2C lines from the AWR1642 are connected to the LP87524 PMIC I2C lines then the user can update the  PMIC register configuration in their AWR1642 application.

    2) Yes the LP87524 device does have its own internal clock.

    3) By default ,if the clock is not fed to the LP7524 device, it uses its internal clock. When the external clock (from AWR1642 or any other source) is enabled the PMIC detects that and automatically switches to the external clock.

    regards,

    Vivek
