TPS630250: Inquire Quiescent Current improvement and datasheet spec question

Part Number: TPS630250

Hi sir,

Please refer my SCH as below, the datasheet shows Quiescent Current is between 35uA to 70uA, but Actual measurement value is about 76uA, do you have any suggest can help us to improve the Quiescent Current performance?

In addition, may I learn from you why datasheet P.6 figure 2 Quiescent Current vs Input Voltage shows the lowest Quiescent Current can under 8uA?

Thank you.

Edward Chen

  • Hello Edward,

The quiescent current in the datasheet is the current that is consumed by the IC only while it is not switching. See more details:

The graphic needs to be clarified.

  • Hello Edward,

figure 2 in the datasheet has a wrong y-axis unit. It should be A instead of mA. The figure shows the quiescent current of the device in forced PWM mode.

Below is the quiescent current in PFM mode:

We will update the datasheet accordingly.

For your measurement, please remove the 220uF cap. This is most likely a tantalum cap, which has a high leakage.

    regards,

    Julian
