BQ76940: The effect of two capacitance between two pins and GND VC1 and VC0

Part Number: BQ76940

Hello,

We want to know what's the effect of two capacitance between two pins VC1 and VC0 and why need GND between the two pins? that's difference compared with other PIN design, like  VC1  and VC2, VC2 and VC3 etc. Would you please help on this? thanks very much.

  • Hi Leo,

This configuration prevents a step load on the battery which will drop the voltage of the cells from pushing VC0 below its reference GND.  A differential connection of the caps here would tend to push VC0 below GND which can disrupt operation on some part designs.

Many applications connect the Cc cap from VC1 to VC0 and do not have any issue, but we recommend connecting this cap to GND as the best approach.

    Best regards,

    Matt
