LM5085: Li-ion battery charger CC CV design using LM5085, LM5088 or any buck converter with current limit

Part Number: LM5085
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40060, LM5088, , TPS40061, LM5117

I'm doing the research to implement a DC-DC CC+CV to charge a 10s4p pack, at 0.5C = 5A, from a 48VDC supply.

I'm VERY newbie at power electronics.

Is it enough to use any DC-DC with current limit configuration (to name a few, LM5085, LM5088, TPS40060, TPS40061) and just set the current protection at 5A, whilst setting Vout at 42VDC? Would it behave as a CC+CV in that case? Or do I neccesary need to feed Iout converted to voltage to the FB to regulate Iout?

What is wrong with the first approach?

Thanks! And I apologize for my ignorance.

Ps: I saw the App Note over the LM5117 implementing CC+CV feeding the CM pin, I just want to know if it's possible an even simpler approach.
