LP87524J-Q1: Auto-Retry after shortcut

Part Number: LP87524J-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1443

Dear Team,

our customer would like to use the LP87524J-Q1 in a system with the AWR1443. The mmWave device is the only 'logic' in the system.

They noticed following point: If there was a short cut at any of the voltage rails, the buck will be disabled. So far so good. Since the AWR is in Reset mode in that case, there is no way to turn on the buck as described in 7.3.7.3.1 of the data sheet.

> Is there any 'auto-retry' mode that could be used? (I know this term/mode from some smart load switches)

> any other idea how to re-start the system again successfully?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Best Regards
Martin

  • Hi Martin,

Toggling NRST or a complete power cycle would be the only way twp ways I see to clear the power fault in this case. There is no built-in auto-retry (also sometimes called hiccup) in this device unfortunately.

As far as other ideas, I've seen this kind of behavior implemented with a discrete circuit with a timer used to mask the PGOOD signal and to reset the PMIC if PGOOD isn't high after the timer expires.

  • Hi Kevin,

thanks for the reply. I will discuss the options with the customer.

    Best Regards
    Martin
