TPS544C25: PMBus logic level

Part Number: TPS544C25

Hi Sir,

I see TPS544C25 supports both 1.8V, 3.3/5V logic level PMBus signals, I have some questions about the table in E5h(MFR_SPECIFIC_21)

1. What does bus detection mean? If I pull up DATA/CLK to 1.8V, the logic level will change to 1.8V logic automatically?

2. What does VSET_USED mean? If VSET higher than 2.41V, it means VSET is not used?

To set Vboot to 1V, if connect VSET to 51.1k to GND, it means VSET is used?

Thanks.

  • Wei-Ting,

Bus detection means there is a comparator that monitors the PMBus signal voltage,  Its control bit is set to 1 if the bus voltage is less than 2.4 V (1.8 V logic) and set to 0 if the bus voltage is greater than 2.4 V (3V/5V logic).  If it is 0 and PMB_VTH is 1, then it can be overridden by VSET_USED.  VSE_USED is an internal bit register that is set to 0 if the VSET pin is pulled up to BP3 and set to 1 if the VSET pin is connected to ground by a resistor.  So for your case VSET_USED = 1.
