BQ27541-G1: Why is communication normal with bq27541G1 and abnormal with bq27542G1?

Part Number: BQ27541-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

We used bq27541G1 for our products before, and the communication is normal.

Recently, we produced a batch of bq27541G1 and replaced it with bq27542G1, and we found that there was no communication.

We just read the battery SOC, and we found that the address of bq27541G1 is the same as that of bq27542G1.

Why is communication normal with bq27541G1 and abnormal with bq27542G1?

Now we have to replace all these products with bq27541G1.

Tks!

  • Hi

Your description of the problem is insufficient to know if your chips are defective or if the device is in hibernate or shutdown mode.

Can you measure a voltage on the reg25 pin? Place a scope on the TS pin to see if it pulses intermittently. This is to determine if the chip is actually receiving power. If it is receiving power, then you need to check to see if the chip is sealed or if there may have been some corruption to the flash memory. Try connecting one unit to bqstudio and see if you are able to successfully communicate

    thanks

  • We are connected to bqstudio, and the communication is normal.

Since the customer does not want to change the software, I would like to know the difference between bq27541G1 and bq27542G1,

What will cause normal communication of bq27541G1 and abnormal communication of bq27542G1?

    Tks!

  • There is nothing in the differences between devices that would indicate why communication is not normal on the 542. You might have defective devices hence the reason you need to trouble shoot to see if the device is bad.

    change list is below:

    thanks
