TPS55332-Q1: TPS55332-Q1

Part Number: TPS55332-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS55340, LM5122, LM5155, LM2588

 Hi there,

I was looking at the specs for the TPS55332 and would like to know if the following input and output parameters are feasible for this device.....

Vin 24 Volts  +/- 0.5 Volts

Vout   29 to 30 Volts  @ 3 Amps

If not,  please explain the limitations and if I have any other options.

Regards
Dave

  • Dear sir,

It is on the corner of can or cannot.  Please set the Vout at 29V instead of 30V, and use a very low drop diode to make the eff. as high as possible.

And also please use a 4-layer pcb, and the layout should be refer to the EVM  to make sure it has a big GND copper plane for the heat dissipate.

  • I really don't think we can use a 4  layer  as it might be out of our budget.   Can we lower our frequency ?  If not,
can you please offer another alternative part ?  Please also be as specific  and detailed as you can in your answer as  I am not an expert in DC to DC converters.
I have searched based on our voltage and current requirements  and  the list below came up.  Would one of these be more suitable ?

  • Hi Dave,

For the TPS55340 and the TPS55332, you must use 4-layer board, or the board will be very hot.

If you don't want to use 4-layer board, you can use a controller, like LM5155, LM5122. Thus you can use a seperate MOSFET and diode. The thermal will be better.

I'm not familiar with LM2588, you can check with that product line.
