LM3525: Output to Input leakage

Part Number: LM3525
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2553, TPS25221

We have a problem in using the LM3525 where voltage from a USB device is leaking back to our system.  Is there a way to stop this?  We are currently measuring on an LM3525M-H and enable is LOW, but still 3.3V is observed on the input.

  • Hi Kenneth,

Do you mean the reverse voltage blocking function?

LM3525 doesn't has the reverse voltage blocking function.

You can try to put a diode at the output if no other concern.

  • I'd think a diode drop at the output would be bad?  I'm not familiar with the USB spec, does it tolerate a diode drop resulting in 4.4-4.7V for VBUS?

We are considering another part that doesn't allow a backfeed from output to input.

  • Hi Kenneth,

The alternate must be pin to pin or not?

TI has so many choice and experienced in power switch.

You can consider TPS2553 or TPS25221.

They all have the reverse current blocking function.

You can also offer me the parameters you want. I can help search for the appropriate device.
