Hello All,

I have a product for indoor positioning and tracking. I use CC2510 chipsets as a beacon and CC2500 + WiFi Interface as a receiver. I want to change the architecture for my next deployments. For a receiver, I want ethernet interface and PoE so that my deployments become simple.

I searched for TI products for the above kind of designs. I came across TPS23754. So now the receiver design becomes CC2500 + AT1284P + TPS23754.

Is it correct? or anything else is required?

Hello Thomas,

While reading, below are the things I understood about PoE.

1. The powered device should be able to do some handshake with PoE switch so that the switch will put power on the lines.

2. The line will have 48 V. We have to convert it to 3.3V. We need a regulator.

3. For putting the data on ethernet cable, we need some chip.

For1 & 2, I guess TPS23754 will work.

For 3, please help.

Hi Venu,

Majority of our EVMs and TI designs focus on the power; if trying to design a data+power PD system, I recommend looking at TIDA-01463. This is PoE lighting application; however, at a high level, it is a good reference to see how we approached the PoE to power to micro with PHY to data flow.
