BQ40Z60: Can un-use Thermistor input pin as a ADC input ?

Part Number: BQ40Z60

Hi,

My customer is evaluating this Bq40Z60 on a battery pack.  They plan to use only one or two thermistor inputs.

In this case, can they make use of the other unused thermistor inputs as generic ADC ?

BTW, is there a spec on the gate drive current on DSG and CHG pins ?

Regards,

CM.

  • No, unfortunately though it is a generic input, the fw utilizes it for TS pin measurements. So, it would require a fw change to enable generic raw IO on that pin. However if you disable the TS measurement on it, you can still have the fw sample the pin, but it will be with the internal 18k pullup and will be reported as temperature. Unfortunately we don't have a spec. However the chg pump is supposed to keep the voltage at the pin 10V higher than the PACK.

  • Hi Batt,

    Thanks for your response.

    Some questions:

    1. Is there a spec on the gate drive current on DSG and CHG pins ?
    2. Customer does not want the fuse to be permanently blown when there is a short.  Is there a way to protect the FET when there is a short ?  So that the system is still working after the short is removed.

    Thanks.

    CM.
