TPS61178: Lower BST Capacitor Value

Hi,

FYi, my application of this IC is Vin=5V(usb), Vout2=13V. The Vout2 is then, supplied to Audio Amplifier.

From the TPS61178 datasheet, the BST capacitor value was recommended at 0.1uF ~ 1uF.

What if the design is using a lower value, for example 0.047uF? What is the side effect such as the performance, reliability, etc?

Hi,

you make observe high ripple in the capacitor. the side effect would be the performance.

the device may operate normal, but we didn't try such small capacitor before.
