BQ40Z60: Temperature accuracy

Part Number: BQ40Z60

Hello,

After calibration of temp's, the temperature read on Internal Temp and TS1 register are not accurate.

In a period of 4 seconds, the temp can change from -3° to +3° around the real value. It has an impact on charging cycle.

Is it something that disappear with computation of golden image ?

or somethings other ?

Regards

Gilles

  • Hi Gilles,

The internal temp measures the temp of the IC. Your TS1 will measure ambient, if both are not close to each other or if one is near the battery pack, heating can cause a delta in temperature. This is normal. At room temp, and high temp your capacity estimate delta due to temperature will be minimal. Below zero or -5C, this can have an effect in capacity estimates.

  • Hi Batt,

What do you mean by 'Ambiant' ?

Currently, we have connect TS1 to the Thermistor located inside the battery pack.

The measurement goes to the value called  'Cell Temp'

We don't have a Thermistor to mesure 'Ambiant'. For myself, 'Ambiant' means temperature of the room

Could you explain a little more ?

    Regards

    Gilles

  • Ambient refers to the environment's temperature in which the battery pack is.

You can use the internal thermistor to measure the IC temperature. That will be different from TS1, if the thermistor on TS1 is attached to any cell on the battery pack.
