UCC28910: Need TI support for UCC28910

Part Number: UCC28910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28740

We need transformer design for dual output model. The Output ratings are 5V@800mAmp and 5V@ 200mA. But the both outputs grounds should isolate. We are using two different grounds for two different applications. So please share transformer drawing for this.

  • Hello Chen,

In regards to transformer TI does not have the design and manufacturing capability to design the transformer for you. However, there are many magnetic manufactures; such as, Wurth, Renco and GCI that could design this transformer for you.

If you want to design the transformer yourself you could use the excel tool to calculate the turns ratio and RMS currents. The software can found and the following link. I know this is for a single output but since both outputs are 5V you could do a single 5W design in the tool.  This will calculate Lpm correctly and the turns ratio for both outputs should be the same.

You may find the following application note from TI helpful as well.

Magnetics Inc.  Also has many good resources that you will find useful if you would like to design the transformer that you can find at the following link.

    Mike

  • Dear,

The sheet is giving design for only one output. But we need dual output. SO, please share transformer drawing.

Please share a sheet with dual output instead of single output. So, please provide design. We will manufacture our own.

    Thanks and Best regards,

    Thomas.Li

  • Hello Thomas,

You can still use the tool to give you the turns ratio of a dual output transformer.

Set the tool for one of the outputs but for the power use the full  power of the two outputs.  This will give you the correct primary magnetizing inductance and turns ratio for that output.  Then just change the output voltage for the second output.  This will give you the turns ratio for that output.

The following link will give you the schematic of multiple output flyback using the UCC28740.  You can use it as a reference on how to connect up the transformer and the correct polarities.

    Regards,
