BQ4050: Qualified learning

Part Number: BQ4050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400,

Hi all,

I am working on bq4050(BMS) with EV2400.

I am able to improve FCC value by Qualified learning(512 mAh for a discharge cycle). In order to obtain the correct FCC, it will take 25 qualified discharge cycles which is a quite lengthy process to deal with.

is there any other way to update FCC?

any answer is appreciated.

Thanks & Regards

-Himavanth

  • Hi Himavanth,

No. You'll need a qualified dsg for a Qmax update. My suggestion is that you complete a learning cycle by discharging the battery from full to your EDV2 at least once. Then once your application meets the learn criteria, it will learn FCC again.

  • Hi Batt,

    Thank you for your reply.

I am done with the Qualified learning cycle procedure twice.

    My FCC value now 5424

initial value (4400 mAh) + 2*512mAh(maximum increment in FCC for qualified discharge)=5424mAh

In order to obtain original FCC value i.e. 17400mAh.. I need to do this procedure 25 times, which is a quite lengthy process to deal with, that is why I am asking about another procedure.

Please help me out to get out of this situation.

    Thanks & Regards

  • Hi Himavanth,

Please understand that there is no short cut for this process. Your gauge is a CEDV gauge. This is the only way it learns capacity during dsg. You need to dsg from 100% RSOC to 7% or lower to learn FCC. If that means a long duration of dsg, that's what you need to do. There are no alternate options to this.
