BQ25713: RAC value

Part Number: BQ25713

In the data sheet, only 10 and 20 mOhms are mentioned.

Can I reduce RAC to 8 mOhms to increase the current a little?

The data sheet states "Instead of using the internal DPM loop, the user can build up an external input current regulation loop and have the feedback signal on the ILIM_HIZ pin." What does this mean?

May I have a higher input current this way? How would the external circuit look like?

  • A related question: is it possible to suppress the current limit? The data sheet says driving ILIM_HIZ with a voltage higher than 4.0V disables DPM but there is still the internal 6.3A maximum.

  • Hey Elder,

We don't recommend customers drop RAC below 10mOhm. It may be possible to go down to 8mOhm, but the charger has not been characterized with such as value. This RAC value is critical for the converter operation; not just the IINDPM threshold.

It is also possible to completely disable IINDPM using EN_IDPM in the ChargeOption0 register. This will disable IINDPM and only rely on the IL_AVG inductor clamping current to limit the current. You can program this register in ChargeOption3.
