You may want to click the execute fw button, that may get the device back into fw mode.

Hi, 

unfortunately, being unable to access the device means it does not respond to any I2C command (checked on the I2C bus - no ack from the device); this prohibits communicating the 'execute FW' button to the device. 

I have doublechecked - the device is properly powered & enabled since it outputs the 2.5V on pin 7 (REG25).

In general, on some of our production PCB's, we do encounter dead devices as well (positively checked to have 2.5G on REG25). Is there any other internal setting a BQ34Z110 (whether or not upgraded to BQ34Z100 with FW) may decide to no longer respond ?

just wanted to add: I suspected the device would be in HDQ mode by accident, so connected EVM2300 & used BQ Studio, HDQ signal is visible on the scope but the device does not respond neither. 

Hi Tom,

The devices do not autodetect on hdq. You have to manually open up bqstudio and select the gauge. Please try that. If that doesn't work, check the TS pin, if it's pulsing, you may be able to recover the IC by manually going into fw upgrade mode. If not, the device may need replacement.

No. There are no such documents. We simply use the firmware tab in bqstudio and then program it from there.

As a side question - once we get the golden image right - the device is integrated in our own test setup & production testing. Can we use the TI SDK to control FW  & configuration( i.e. golden image) upload from our test software?

I wouldn't know about your test software but yes, if you are using the TI SDK you can upload fw using that.
