LM5180-Q1: The power-up order of LM5180-Q1

Part Number: LM5180-Q1

Hi

I got a question about LM5180-Q1 from my customer.
Could I inputted voltage to EN terminal before VIN terminal?
If it has the problems, what problem does it have?

Best regards,
Yokota
  • In general you do not want to apply a voltage on the EN pin when there is no voltage on the VIN pin.

There is the possibility that you will turn on a parasitic ESD diode on that pin.

If this is a requirement, you will need to limit the current with a resistor.

I would try to limit the current in the range of 100uA or so.

  • Hi Yokota-san,

Yes, you can set the EN voltage high prior to applying the input voltage.

    Regards,
