UCC27611: Is it possible to provide Ta specification

Part Number: UCC27611

To the person concerned

When I took a look at datasheet of UCC27611DRVR, I couldn't find Ta range specification.

Could you please privde with Ta ragne?

thank you

Best Regards

Mark Kim

  • Hi Mark,

Thanks for your interest in our driver, my name is Mamadou Diallo, from the High POwer Drivers team.

When dealing with gate drivers, one of the relevant parameters to take into account is the junctions temperature of the driver which if exceeded can cause damage to the driver. Biasing the internal circuitry of the driver as well as charging/discharging a load cause a rise in temperature at the junctions of the driver. Many other factors contribute to this including external gate resistance, load, switching frequency, layout, etc...

We characterize our ICs junction temperatures, the ambient temperature can be deducted using the example (example using a different driver) from the link below knowing the junction temperature (datasheet value),  RθJA (datasheet value), gate drive power dissipation:

    Tj = (P * RθJA) + Ta

  • Hi Mamadou Diallo

Supposedly, My request was not clear to you.

Your explanation is very informative to me. But I would like TI to has recommended Ta temperature range for ucc27611 as general Logic and interface ICs.

In some cases, for instance, Diode product shows range for Tj and storage temperature and recommends to focus Junction temperature management.

My request is very simple. If You have Ta temperature specification for UCC27611 like commercial and industrial temperature, I would like you to share it.

    Thank you

  • Hi Mark,

My apologies I misunderstood your request.

We do not characterize our drivers for ambient temperature Ta. However, you may use storage temperature (-65C to 150C) as a guideline and should not present to your application so long as you ensure that the rise in temperature at the junctions of the driver are within the recommended specified range in table 6.3 (-40C to 140C).

Please let us know if you have further questions or press the green button if this addressed your inquiry.

    Regards,

    -Mamadou
