TPS62748: Maximum current in 100% duty cycle mode (for LiPo based application)

Part Number: TPS62748
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62840, TPS62808

Hi,

I would like to use the TPS62748 to regulate a 3.7V lithium polymer battery to 3V. The system could consume up to 350mA but will be mostly in low power mode (10µA). In the datasheet it seems that below Vout+0.7V the current is limited but it does not state what current can be achieved with lower headroom. What current can I expect at 3.2V input for 3V output?

  • Hi Theo,

No, it is not recommended to draw this much current with Vin close to Vout.

However, we recently previewed TPS62840 which does not have this restriction.  Please have a look at this one as it supports higher current and has much lower Iq.  Samples and EVMs are available.

We also have TPS62808/2, which offer smallest size and much lower Rdson FETs for higher currents.
