After unplugging the lithium battery and connecting it again, BQ78Z100 can't read and write.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78Z100

BQ78Z100 was successfully initialized, which can turn on and discharge FETMOS. When I unplugged the lithium battery and connected it, I initialized the chip again and found that BQ78Z100 could not read the registers properly.

Register Battery Status readings are all 0x00; and discharge FETMOS can not be opened. Excuse me, after pulling out the lithium battery, BQ78Z100 is locked, how to set up to restore the controllable state. Thank you!

  • Hi,

If you shutdown the gauge, to power it back up, you need to connect a voltage of 5V on the pack side. Once that is done, the gauge will turn on. If the gauge was sealed previously, after wake up it will be in sealed state. You will need to unseal it to write to the df.
