TPS25942A: Question about TPS25942A Power mux

Part Number: TPS25942A

Hello,

I am planning to use this IC for my application and I have a couple of questions:

1-      The input to my circuit (which this IC is part of it) is 12V DC. I have two lines inputs: 1- onboard power 2- Shore power. Both powers are provided by 3s batteries so they may drop lower than 10V. I would like my circuit to connect to shore power even if its voltage is lower than onboard battery. In other word, if shore power is presented, always connect to shore power regardless of its voltage. Is it possible to do this with this IC?

2-      My system is rated for about 7amps (at 12V) continues current and about 25amps max current. Is this IC capable of handling that power?

3-      I am planning to use the recommended values given in Figure 55 and the schematic given in Figure 79. Is it a good idea or I need to recalculate them for my design? If yes, how?

Thanks,

Babak

  • Hi Babak,

    Thanks for reaching out!

You can use the device in priority power mux configuration as per Figure 79 to meet your requirement. However, this device can handle max continuous current of 5A. For your system, you would need hot-swap solution. Please refer TPS2474x device.

Please open a separate thread if you have any questions on TPS2474x as it is supported by an another engineer.

    Best Regards,

    Rakesh
