LM73606: Use case questions

Part Number: LM73606

Hello,

I'd like to ask a couple of questions about LM73606 use case as follows.

(1) Regarding the VFB accuracy, the datasheet describes for PWM mode only. Do we have for PFM mode as well or is it same to PWM mode?

(2) What if the SW pin were abnormally shorted to GND, is there a damaging concern or can something of LM73606 protection feature pretend it?

(3) What if we used E-cap (w/ higher ESR) for output capacitor, can LM73606 cover the loop gain or has is already considered in the design?

Thanks in advance.

  • Sawamoto-san,

We are compiling the answers now and will get back to you shortly.

  • Hi Sawamoto,

    1) In regards for VFB accuracy, we only have typical value for the PFM case which is 2%

    2) Yes, there is a potential damage that could happen because even though there is a high side current limit but the High Side current limit takes time to react. Therefore there is a potential damage to the FET. We have a protection when output is shorted to GND

    3) I think this is not considered in the design, the table of recommended output capacitor is based on ceramic output capacitor which has low ESR. Therefore you need to check the stability of the part given an output capacitor which has higher ESR since it will introduce zero to the system.

    Thanks
