BQ34Z100-G1: How to calibrate the BQ34Z100-G1 with the MCU program

Hi Team,

The customer does not want to use the EV2400+BqStdio to calibrate the BQ34Z100-G1. Instead, he wants to write the MCU program to calibrate the voltage, current and temperature of the BQ34Z100-G1. But the datasheet only writes the relevant commands for how to enter the calibration mode, and does not write how to calibrate the voltage,current and the temperature after entering. Also it does not write to which register the data to be calibrated should be written to. And what is the conversion relationship between the written data and the actual data, etc?

Is there any relevant information, or sample code?

We don't have a complete note for calibration, the technical documents for the product are here,

The code required is standard i2c code but we don't have sample code for it.

Hi Batt,

These technical problems have been seen by customer. The customer mentioned that some of the chips such as BQ40Z80 have detailed descriptions of calibration, write register steps and conversion formulas. Why is the BQ34Z100 not?

And he also said that if there is no relevant descriptions of calibration, it will have a big impact on their business. Would you possible to share your suggestion for this?

Hi Annie,

Unfortunately the bq34z100 is an old device, therefore the documentation for it is spotty. The gauge core is similar to the bq27520-g4. You may try this document, http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua640b/slua640b.pdf but I'm not sure how successful that will be for calibrating this gauge.
