TPS2595: TPS2595 RILM Question

Part Number: TPS2595
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2596

Hi team,

My customer plan to set the Ilimit to 500mA.

The customer would like to know how the device behave if current limit is less than minimum current limit when caused resistor value error.

Maximum recommended resistor value is 5000 ohm. I think it behave correctly when the resistor value is less than 5000 ohm, but if resistor value is higher than 5000 ohm, the device may not work correctly.

Could you please check this?

Regards,

Yoshi

  • Hi Yoshi,

The device has been characterized at Rilm = 4487 ohms which corresponds to 0.49 A of current limit setting.

For any value of Rilm > 4487 ohms , the device would still operate but the current limit accuracy is not guaranteed. This is because we have not characterized the device for Rilm > 4487 ohms.

Why don't you pitch in TPS2596 to customer ? TPS2596 can support current limits as low as 130mA.
