BQ28Z610: BQ28Z610

Part Number: BQ28Z610

Hello

We're using the BQ28Z610 fuel gauge IC for monitoring our 2S LION Battery pack. The device appears to be working correctly, however periodically the RSOC (Releative State of Charge) indicates 0% even though the battery pack is charged. The RSOC seems to be stuck at 0% even if we charge/discharge the pack. It appears the only way get the BQ28Z610 to resume gauging correctly is to send an "Unseal" command followed by a "Reset" command - It then resumes sending the correct RSOC

Does anyone know why this might be happening? and how to prevent it happening?

Thank you

Stephen

  • Hi Stephen,

You first need to calibrate, select chem ID and then learn capacity on the gauge. Without that, and without having gauging enabled you will only be coulomb counting up and down which can cause an error.

Please follow the steps here, to configure the gauge.
