TPS61030: What does the part behave when the condition of Vin > Vout?

Hi Team

Would you advise that is it possible to use with Vin > Vout condition even TPS61030 is a boost converter?

My customer will design not to meet the above conditions, but she wants to know what will happen if the above events occur.

As long as the customer confirmed it on the actual machine, it was operating at SW duty 100%.

Hi Shidara,

When VIn>Vout, the vout will rise with the increase of Vin. Low side switch is off so SW pin always equals Vin.

Thank you very much for the answer.

Please let me ask one more question.

When voltage is applied to the TPS61030,

a voltage of about 0.6v is generated at around Vin=0.8v below the operating voltage.

Is this a specification of the device?

Please refer to the attached waveform.

1ch: Vin, 2ch: Iin, 3ch: Vout, 4ch: Iout

※ The behavior is the same even with EN = OFF
※ If pulldown resistance is added to Vout side, it can be suppressed to 0.1v

Hi Shidara,

Have you tried increased Vin higher than 1.8V and set EN low? Will the VOUT be 0?
