BQ24172: BQ24172: Pd(max)

Part Number: BQ24172

Dear Sir,

Customer would know BQ24172RGYR Pd(max).

Please you kindly share information.

Thanks!

Steven

  • Hi Steven,

The BQ24172 has as thermal regulation circuit that clamps the output power when the junction temperature, Tj, = 120 C typical.  Assuming the PCB has the same design as that used to compute the RthetaJA value in datasheet section 8.4, the max power dissipation is Pd(max) = (Tjmax-Ta_ / (RthethaJA) = (120 C - Ta)/(35.7C/W).  If your customer's board design and airflow are not similar to those used to compute the datasheet's RthetaJA (see http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spra953c/spra953c.pdf) then the max power dissipation could be significantly different.

    Regards,

    Jeff
