We have a question about TPS82130.
Does this IC have short mode when FET is broken?
We are concerned that Input voltage is output to load by FET broken.

Hello Takahiro,
Did you experience a failure where you think Input is shorted to Output?
Can you state what are the conditions at which you are using the device?
Thank you very much!

Dorian
Thank you for your support!
We don't have experience.
We think that the detected circuit is needed if Input voltage is output to load by FET broken.
So we asked you if this IC has short mode.
Vin=12V / Vout=5V/ Iout=2A

Hello Takahiro-san,
To have input Voltage directly linked to output voltage you would need to encounter a situation which would break the high-side MOSFET, too high voltage or too high current.
You can protect the input of your DC using Zener Diodes which would conduct when a certain maximum input voltage is met.
And regarding a short condition or high currents at the load, we have in this device an internal circuitry which handles a high currents situations at the output of your system. Those situation are handled by the switch current limit.
Thank you!

Thank you for your support!
This IC has current limit. So high-side FET will not be broken by too high voltage or too high current.
Is this understanding correct?
High-side FET is broken by inrush current.
Do you have above concerns?

Hello Takahiro-san,
At the input, high voltage related-issues can be prevented with the use of zener diodes.
You are right, this Switch current limit is implemented to prevent those event from happening. The TPS82130 has current limit to protect the load and the High-side FET.
Thank you very much for reaching out to us!

Hello Takahiro-san,
I haven't heard back from you on this. Do you have any other questions related to this topic?
Thank you!
