LP5036: Channels in parallel

Part Number: LP5036

I'd like to connect channels in parallel; 3 channels connected together to get 105mA, repeated 12 times (hence a 36-channel IC becomes 12-channel).

Will this work?

I've already worked out that the I2C registers are compatible with this mode of operation: the brightness control register would become per-channel rather than per-LED.

  • Hi, Mark,

If you need 105mA with 100% duty, it's perfect to use in this way.

If you want to get pure 105mA with PWM dimming, we suggest you connect 3 of Red(or Green or Blue) channels together rather than one R/G/B.

This is because LP5036 integrates PWM phase-shifting as you can see from figure 12 in datasheet. So if you combine 3 channles like OUT0/1/2, the three channels are not turned on at same time.
