TPS43061: dead time and gate resistors

Part Number: TPS43061

My customer has concerns about changing the operating frequency of the TPS43061 and possibly violating the dead time between the MOSFET's. Do you have any comments about that? Do you think if we stay within the frequency range of the device, would that ever become a real concern? How about the addition of resistors to the gates of the MOSFET's? Do you know of any circumstances it could be justifiable?

Thank you!

  • Hi Lenio,

Thank you for posting.  I don't think the switching frequency affect much of the dead time.  However, the gate resistor does affect.  Small gate resistor may be needed to slow down the switching di/dt and dv/dt for EMI concerns.  You always need to check the dead time to make sure no shoot-through happens.

    Thanks,
