BQ25890: Logic Level Confirmation

Part Number: BQ25890

I am sure to a lot of people this will be a silly question, therefore it should be very quick and easy to answer (I hope) :)

I have the BQ25890 implemented into a design that has a 3V3 MCU connected directly to the I/O pins on the BQ25890 chip.

With a varying LiPo battery voltage of 3.2V - 4.2V, will the logic pins (STAT, INT, OTG etc) ever feed more than 3.3V into my MCU and damage it?

Or, do these pins only ever see a max of 1.8V internally when floating?

Thanks in advance for (hopefully) a simple confirmation!

  • Hi Disco,

STAT and INT are open drain pins and need a external resistor pulled up to an external voltage, not to exceed 7V abs max.

OTG pin is a high impedance pin and it is not internally pulled high or low.  It should not be left floating and its voltage cannot exceed 7V abs max.

    Regards,
