BQ27GDK000EVM: BQ27GDK000EVM board questions

Part Number: BQ27GDK000EVM

Hi Team,

I have BQ27GDK000EVM evaluation board and I work with BQ27421YZFR-G1A fuel gauge connected externally.

1. evaluation board works with manual setting. I can charge/discharge battery at set profile.

2. I cant run learning cycle procedure in automatic mode, I can't find any information how to do this, may be I need different/additional connections of hardware, I don't know.

Questions:

1. How I can chose/create Chemical ID automatically?

2. How to make learning cycle in automatic mode?

3. How to generate correct golden file for fuel gauge?

Thanks,

Shlomi

  • Hi Shlomi

I believe you contacted us offline about this already.

    1. You cannot create a chem id. You can only run tests to identify a close chem id match for your cell and also determine if bq27421 is a good fit for your cell. Our online tool gpcchem allows you to do this.

    2. If you use the GDK, perform the following:

    • Configure the gauge (see quick start guide).
    • Set Update Status to 0x03
    • Program the following parameters in the GDK, auto-cycle dialog in bqStudio:
      • Repeat cycle exactly 2 times
      • Begin each cycle with a charge task
      • Charging Voltage
      • Charging Current (e.g. C/1)
      • Taper Current (e.g. C/10)
      • 300 minutes relax after charge
      • Discharge: Const Current C/5
      • Discharge Cutoff 2900mV
      • Terminate Voltage 3000mV
      • 300 minutes relax after discharge
      • Data Memory -> Auto Export
      • Registers -> Start Log
      • GDK: Start

The first and the last gg file from the Data Memory Auto Export files will show update to Qmax and the Ra table. This indicates that the gauge completed a learning cycle. Contact Dominik offine if one or both didn’t update. It’s important to have the Registers Log file (which includes current/voltage/temperature every 4 seconds (default)) to determine what went wrong.

    thanks
