TPS65381A-Q1: Max required current consumption when a vehicle is off - Is it ruled?

Hi,

My question is about my product used as aftermarket device on tractors.

It is powered by the battery voltage when vehicule is on and off.

Power management is made by TPS65381A-Q1.

I'd like to know if there is a required maximum current consumption of this device when the vehicle is off, in order to not discharge the battery.

Is it ruled by tractor manufacturers or International standards?

      Unfortunately, there are no standards to help with this question. The automotive industry has a target of 3 months of standby power. Typically the car must still start after 3 months of sitting.

      Not all auto manufactures meet this target, but it is considered unacceptable to not start after 2 months of non-use. The actual current draw will change for every vehicle so the size or capacity of the battery will define the maximum current draw in standby mode.

      Remember that every battery has a small amount of self discharge, so understanding the specifications of your battery is very important.

      A tractor could be different based on the expectations of how long the tractor is expected to sit and still start.

      Many after market radios and alarm systems are expected to draw less than a few milli-amps of current when the vehicle is turned off.
