BQ40Z50: How to recover after errors

Part Number: BQ40Z50

If the device detects an error lets say Overcharge the charge and discharge FETs are turned off. If you follow the examples in the datasheet that would effectively remove VCC from the device and power it off. Since it is now off there is no way to enable those FETs and re power the device.

In these conditions how should I recover from that error.

  • The dsg fet will not be turned off in OC, your dsg fet will still be closed allowing for dsg. Once the overcharge condition has been resolved by a dsg or by a battery removal indicated by a pres transition.

  • Thanks Batt

That's interesting, I'm sure I have seen situations where both FETs are off but it's hard to tell as the device is not accessible from I2C. I will try and get some more information if it happens again and post a new question.
