Linux/TPS659037: Is there some nonvalitile memory on PMIC chip that can be used to store Product serial number or ID?

Part Number: TPS659037
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728, TPS65917-Q1

Tool/software: Linux

My SOC is AM5728, PMIC is TPS659037. we got no EEPROM on board, Is there some nonvalitile memory on PMIC chip that can be used to store Product serial number or ID?

  • David,

Can you further elaborate what information you are trying to store? Is it the PMIC or AM5728 ID you want to store? We don't have a way to store the AM57x info within the PMIC, but the PMIC already has its own ID information stored in its registers. We do have some BACKUP registers that keep its contents as long as VRTC domain is supplied. (More info in datasheet.) Maybe they can be used to store your additional information?

Please let me know if this is what you are asking.

  • Hi Nastasha,

We want to store the Product serial number which is different between every two board.

    Any advise?

  • David,

The TPS65917-Q1 does not have the capability to store this information. Upon losing power, the backup registers would reset back to 0x00. Likely, I different device needs to store this information if it is needed in the system.

    Thanks,

    Nastasha
