TPS755: Operating temperature

Part Number: TPS755

Hi E2E,

Good day.

It was indicated in the datasheet that the recommended operating virtual junction temperature (Tj) of TPS755 is from -40 °C to 125°C. Is this also the operational temperature of the part? What is the air temperature (environment temp) range of the part? From our understanding, the junction temperature is the thermal performance that is computed based on Theta-ja (Rθja) and power.

Also, do we have derating guidelines for this part?

Regards,

Carlo

  • Hi Carlo,

The junction temperature caculation has two parts: the ambient temperature (which is also the air temperature you talked about) plus the computed temperature rise using Theta-ja (Rθja) and power. For example, if the ambient temperature is 50C, and the computed temperature rise is 40C; the two combined is 90C and it needs to be within -40 to 125C.

For derating guideline, you can refer to the "Quality and packaging" section. See picture attached. You can also find out the qualification done with the device under "Qulification summary".

    Regards,
