BQ24780S: HPB operation during BATOVP

When BATOVP is detected, HS-FET and LS-FET is disabled to prevent more charge. Is Hybrid Power Boost mode available during BATOVP?

    Hi Tamio,

    Yes, the BQ24780S can still operate in hybrid power boost mode during BATOVP. I confirmed this on an EVM.

    In the waveform below, I set IINDPM = 1.664 A, ICHG = 1.024 A, and ISYS = 2 A using an e-load. These test conditions caused the BQ24780S to operate in hybrid boost mode, which can be seen from the polarity of IBAT (positive IBAT indicates that the battery is discharging). I then increased VBAT from 8 V up to 9.5 V (>104% of my VREG = 8.4 V setting) in order to enter BATOVP, but the BQ24780S continued to operate in hybrid boost mode. The converter never stopped switching.
