BQ27426: "Error: [RUP_DIS / RDIS: Not Clear]" is displayed in the learning cycle

Part Number: BQ27426
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, , GPCCHEM

Dear Sir,

"Error: [RUP_DIS / RDIS: Not Clear]" is displayed after Start Re Relax in the learning cycle.
what is the cause?

■ Test conditions
・ Read ggfile (ggfile for our battery tested by TI + change of various parameters)
・ Testing Learning Cycle in Automated Mode (Connect EV2400 and evaluation board via FET)

■ Attached data
1: 00_190717_Learning_pretest_RUP_DIS_Error.log (1st Learning Cycle exam log)
2: 00_190718_Learning_pretest_RUP_DIS_Error.log (2nd Learning Cycle exam log)
3: 02_N4HPGMA00001-bq27426G1-LC1202_190712.gm.fs (gg file used)
4: 00_190717_Learning_pretest_Status.txt (1 Status log)

190718_BQ27426_Learning_Cycle.zip

■ Remarks
・ In the test of 1 and 2, Opconfig D (23 ⇒ 2b) and Update Status (00 ⇒ 03) are changed.
・ I changed OpconfigD because ChemID of OpconfigD remains 3230 even if it is changed from 3230 to 1202 in Chemical.

  • Additional information.

I changed Chemistry ID from 3230(Dafault) to 1202 before learning cycle test.

  • Discharge rate is C/5 (160mA/800mAh).

  • Hi

Have you run gpcchem to determine if you are using the right device? The pre-programmed chem id on the device might not be a match for your cells.

    thanks

    Onyx

  • Dear Onyx-san,

The result of gpcchem is as below attached file.

    8306.GPC_ChemID_Data.zip

    GPC_ChemID_Data-report.zip

    ・ Should we use the Chemistry ID 3230 (4.35 V, max DOD error = 1.93%) instead of 1202 (4.2 V, max DOD error = 2.62%) according to "GPC_report.txt"?
The full charge voltage of our battery is 4.2V.
・ Can we use Best chemical ID: 351 described in "GPC_report.txt" with bq27426?

    Best regards,
    Chiaki Endo

  • Hi Chiaki,

Pls use 3230.Even if your charge voltage is 4.2V, it will work fine. You can't use 351 because this gauge is  a rom gauge and does not have flash which allows the programming of custom ids.

    thanks

    Onyx

  • Dear Onyx san,

"Error: [RUP_DIS / RDIS: Not Clear]" (Logs ① and ② below) occurd even if set to 3230.
Is there anything other than the ChemID setting that causes the error (causes RUP_DIS not cleared)?

For reference, when gpcchem is executed, RUP_DIS is cleared and LearningCycle is completed (Log ③ below).
The cleared time is 2019/7/19 13:29:29 (Sample 3228).

Also, if ChemID is 3230, SOC will not be 100% (Log ④ below). what is the reason?

  • Dear Onyx san,

When the log acquisition method was changed, RUP_DIS was cleared and the learning cycle was completed (QMAXUP = L⇒H, RESUP = L⇒H).

NG:Watch(Interval=2000ms), All Registers, All State Parameters, All Registers Parameters, Total 49 items
    OK:Registers(Interval=30000ms)

    The log is as follows.

    00_190806_Learning_pretest2.xlsx
    00_190806_Learning_pretest2.log

Is it possible that the learning cycle will not be completed due to differences in log acquisition methods?

Also, if ChemID = 3230, the SOC will not be 100% on the first charge (If it is 1202, the SOC will be 100% on the first charge).
    what is the reason?

    Best regards,
    Chiaki Endo

  • Hi Chiaki

The chem ids on this device are rated for different cell voltages. So you may have not been charging to the max voltages for the chem id.

The acquisition mode should  not affect the success of  learning.

    thanks

    Onyx

  • Dear Onyx-san

So you may have not been charging to the max voltages for the chem id.
⇒Since our battery has a full charge voltage of 4.2V, should we set it to 1202 (4.2V) instead of chemID = 3230 (4.35V)?

  • Dear Onyx-san,

    I have additional questions.

QMAX_UP and RES_UP are set, but the FC bit is not set.

I think that "Row of 248~335 in the log file "6431.00_190806_Learning_pretest2.xlsx" is satisfied the following conditions which informed from TI Japan before.

    ■FC set condition
    In two 40 second periods:
・Voltage must be > Taper Voltage
・Average current must be < Taper Current (which is Design Capacity / (0.1 * Taper Rate))
・Passed Charge > min Taper Capacity

    ■Our setting value
    ・Taper Voltage:4100mV(Default)
    ・Taper Current:66mA (Taper Rate = 800/(0.1*121))
    ・Taper Capacity:10 (Chabged from 25(Default) to 10)

Why is the FC bit not set?

    Best regards,
    Chiaki Endo

  • Chiaki

Can you attach the log you are referring to? I thought you were working this offline with TI japan and one of our apps engineers? To ensure continuity and that you get a timely response,  Can you pls continue to work with them.

    thanks
