BQ34110: Fully Charged Flag (FC) does not get set

Part Number: BQ34110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

I have reproduced an issue (or maybe replicated the same mistakes) my customer has reported in which a Lead Acid Battery, even though is fully charged, never sets the FC flag through BQ34110. What are the conditions for the BQ34110 to declare a battery fully charged? Do I need to fully cycle (discharge and charge) for the FC to get set?

1. I did change the parameters in flash according to Matt Sunna's spreadsheet. The battery shows 100% charged in BQ Studio

2. My customer is testing the BQ34110 in their product, but I am using the EVM along with the BQStudio.

3. I have calibrated voltage and current with bench power supplies and electronic loads. The readings through BQ Studio match exactly what I see with other instruments in my setup

4. BQ Studio dashboard shows the battery at 100%. This is a 12V lead acid battery (used in lawn mowers). The reading voltage is 13.7V.

Attached is my gg.csv file for reference.

Thank you!

  • The settings in SOC Flag Config A and SOC Flag Config B determine FC set. You need to perform a learning cycle first to learn FCC. Unless the conditions for FC Set are met, which in your case is voltage charge termination, FC will not be set in the registers.
