TPS61194-Q1: TPS-61194-Q1 failure phenomena?

Part Number: TPS61194-Q1

What are the failure phenomena? Do you want to report them?

  • Hi,

It depends on the user whether or not to report the fault. We have a FAULT pin to output the fault signal.

  • Now instrumentation products, flash screen failure several times, for the black screen (no backlight).

    VDD = 12V, V_LED A = 12V, normal should be 24V.OUT1-4 voltage is only 0V, normal 2V.

TPS-61194-Q1's FAULT pin 5V has no difference from normal parts, and confirms that the LCD backlight module is normal.

It is presumed that TPS61194-Q1 has a problem, so the ABA switch is used to confirm the chip failure.

Can you help to analyze the reasons, chip failure, FAULT how to determine the type of failure?

  • Hi,

I have a couple of questions to better understand the issue.

    1) Is the failure repeatable for this particular part?

    2) How many parts showed the same failure?

    3) Do you have the oscilloscope waveform at the moment the failure happens, including signals of FB, SW, Vout?

    4) What is the voltage on FB pin after the failure?

  • Hi,

    1) Failure cannot be reproduced

    2) Determine 2 sets of faults and more than 50 suspected faults.

    3) Failure can not be repeated, it is difficult to grasp, instrument flicker phenomenon, after re-energizing performance failure, no output out1 is 0V

    4) FB Voltage 12V after Failure

Does instrument scintillation confirm device failure mode? Can you help me see the parameters, or what causes them?

  • Hi Eagle,

    Sorry for late reply.

When you say "flicker phenomenon", do you mean the LEDs are suddenly off and will then recover again? Please help double check the voltage at boost output and FB pin. It's important to help us to find out the root cause. I don't think the FB voltage is 12V.

Besides that, you can try to trigger the falling edge of Iout or boost Vout to grasp the waveform at the moment the failure happens.
