BQ27531-G1: Gauging accuracy at low temperature

Hi,

I would like to know the gauging can work from -20 degree C.

Is the gauging accuracy change if the temperature is -20 degree C (can it achieve same performance as room temperature?) I guess algorithm has Rb table and support lower temperature but I would like to know if it support from -20 degree C.

No there will be a degradation in performance at lower temps like -20. You can optimize the performance using gpcrb tool but, you will not get as good a performance as room temp. This is due to the non-inearity changes of the resistance of the cell especially at cold temp

Onyx -san,

Below is charactoristics of Li-ION battery and the part which circuled is for -20 C and -10 C.

I guess the gauge accuracy is rely on the battery charactoristics rather than bq27531G1 accuracy at low temp range.

The cell voltage at fully charge condition and the voltage at EDV (under 3.0V) are almost same at -20C. It may not be able to run gauging correctly.

But do you have idea to cover this battery charactoristic and get high accuracy at low temperature? (e.g. TI has recommend gauge device for low temp rang.)
