Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28070
I am evaluating UCC29910A for a Single-phase 460Vac Buck APFC, 1kW, output 300V. Do you have any design concerns or comments of using UCC299110A for my chase?
Thanks
Viktorija

Hi Viktorija,
1kW output power is too high for a single phase buck PFC topology. I would suggest using an interleaved CCM PFC such as UCC28070 and use a downstream DC/DC converter to obtain 300Vdc output.

Thanks for the reply. Customer is asking:
If I use UCC28070, it becomes a boost APFC+ DC/DC Buck, two-stage may increase cost and reduce efficiency.
Right now, I still focus on one-stage Buck APFC approach with 500W target first. Do you think using UCC299110A to achieve 500W/300V output is okay?
Thanks
Viktorija
Hi Viktorija,
I don't think buck PFC is a good choice for this application, Buck PFC does not conduct when the instantaneous AC input voltage is less than the DC output voltage. With a 460Vac input and 300V output, the conduction angle will be quite narrow and will make it challenging to achieve good power factor.
